about the artist

“Taos, New Mexico is the best place in the world to live, if you don’t need to make a living.” This was the advice given to my mother by a Texas oil man. You see, my father passed away suddenly and my mother needed a good place to raise a wild child. Thus began my adventures in the mountains of northern New Mexico…

Although my mother, a bookworm by nature, was confounded by my energy, she was nevertheless sympathetic to my drive to discover myself and explore the world through challenging, not to mention risky, physical endeavors. I was enrolled in my first ski class at the age of three. Years later, having mastered the steeps of Taos Ski Valley, I feel confident in my ability to tackle just about any ski run in the world. Even so, it would be hard to find a more beautiful backdrop for skiing than that afforded the slopes of Taos by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

I cannot remember a time when I wasn’t drawn to exploring uncharted territory. Much to my mother’s consternation, I checked out my first liquor establishment at the age of four when a friend took me to his dad’s bar a few blocks from home. It was a colorful place and I’ve been searching out the wild and wonderful watering holes of the western U. S. ever since.

I took to riding horses at the age of ten. When mine died, I chased and rode the wild Indian ponies that wandered onto our land. It was the middle of winter and most of them were half-starved and easy to catch. I had to abandon the project when one of them mustered the energy to pitch me across the corral. Shortly thereafter, I was given my first camera. I knew right then that I would be a photographer for the rest of my life.

I am delighted to be able to share these outstanding photographic images with you. I’ve embarked on a new voyage on the World Wide Web in order to make my photographs widely available and I hope that you will join me in this latest adventure. These fine art prints will enhance the beauty of any setting, be it an office, a home, a mountain cabin, or even a sailboat of your own. I have chosen the best images from my collection to launch this web site, so…enjoy!
